Anyone can play, and better yet, anyone can win at Mardi Gras Casino & Resort greyhound racetrack. Whether you’re a veteran from when we were Tri-State Greyhound Park or new to our greyhound racetrack, here is a quick guide on how to wager to help you.
Placing a bet is simple. You never have to feel intimidated or that you’re going to say something wrong. Just remember these easy hints and steps. Before you go to the window, write down your selections and the amount you want to bet, have your money or winning ticket in hand, then tell the clerk…
The track you want to bet
The race you want to bet
The dollar amount you want to bet
The type of bet
The numbers you have selected.
Example: “I would like Mardi Gras Tri-State or WV, 4th race, $2.00 quiniela, 1 and 2.”
That’s all there is to it! Below are charts to help you in your wagering.
Win
The First dog to cross the finish line. If you bet to win, you collect a payoff only if your selection finishes first. This wager is available in all races.
Place
The SECOND dog to cross the finish line. If you bet to place, you collect a payoff if your selection finishes first or second. This wager is available in all races.
Show
The third dog to cross the finish line. If you bet to show, you collect a payoff if your selection finishes first, second or third. This wager is available in all races.
Trifecta
The first three dogs to cross the finish line produce the trifecta. In a trifecta bet, you select three dogs. You win if your selections finish first, second and third in the exact order you picked. This wager is available in all races except the third, seventh and tenth.
Quiniela (pronounced “quin-ella”)
The first two dogs to cross the finish line produce the quiniela. In a quiniela bet, you select two dogs. You win if your selections finish first or second, and in any order. This wager is available in all races.
Minimum Wager: $2.00 and $1.00 Partial Wheels
Tri-Super
The Tri-Super is available on races 11 and 13. To win a Tri-Super, you must select the first three dogs in the exact order of finish for the 11th race. Then before the 13th race, you must exchange your ticket and select the first four dogs in the exact order of finish for the 13th race. If there are no winners, the jackpot carries over to the next night.
Superfecta
The first four dogs to cross the finish line produce the superfecta. In a superfecta bet, you select four dogs. You win if your selections finish first, second, third and fourth in the exact order you picked. Superfectas will now be held in all races!
Boxing
This means you select any number of dogs (3 or more) in a “box”. In a trifecta box, if your selections finish first, second and third in any order, you win. In a quiniela box, if any two selections finish first and second in any order, your win.
Wheeling
This is picking a key dog, which you choose to place first (or second or third) with any other possible combination of dogs. A $1 trifecta “wheel” in an 8-dog race costs $42 with 42 different combinations to produce a winning payoff – all with just one ticket. For example, if you wheel #8 to win, and it wins, you are a winner regardless of which dogs finish 2nd or 3rd.
